CCTV News:The Ministry of Water Resources and the National Development and Reform Commission announced today (November 1) that the Three Gorges Project has recently completed all the procedures for overall completion and acceptance. According to the acceptance conclusion, all the construction tasks of the Three Gorges Project have been completed.
The Three Gorges Project is a key backbone project for harnessing, protecting and developing the Yangtze River. Construction preparations began in January 1993, construction started in 1997, and it was completed in October 2008. At the end of the flood season, experimental water storage with a normal water level of 175 meters was started. In 2011, it was completed and put into operation according to the approved construction tasks. At present, all the construction tasks of the Three Gorges Project have been completed.
Since the Three Gorges Project was put into operation, comprehensive benefits such as flood control, power generation, shipping and water resources utilization have been brought into full play. The monitoring shows that the main buildings, such as river dam, flood discharge and energy dissipation, water diversion and power generation, navigation and Mao Ping Creek protection project, are in normal working condition, and the electromechanical system and equipment and metal structure equipment have been tested and operated safely and stably under various working conditions. The power transmission and transformation project runs safely, stably and reliably, and the equipment is in good condition, which meets the power transmission needs of the power station, and the resettlement project runs normally. The geological environment in the Three Gorges reservoir area is generally safe, the ecological environment construction and protection measures are effective, and the immigrants have normal production and life.
