Recently, a mooncake that has been selling well in the live stream of Brother Yang and his live streaming host has attracted attention. This mooncake is advertised as "Hong Kong Meicheng" and has monthly sales of up to 50 million yuan, but the actual situation is different from the publicity. Media reports found that these mooncakes are not produced in Hong Kong, but are actually produced in Guangzhou, Guangdong, and are not sold in the Hong Kong market. This discovery has sparked heated discussions among netizens, and some people have pointed out that this publicity method may involve misinformation.
Staff at Guangzhou Meicheng Food Technology responded on Sept. 13, saying that although the founder of the Meicheng Food brand was indeed located in Hong Kong, the question of whether the brand’s mooncakes were available in Hong Kong, although the staff claimed to have a cooperative relationship, failed to provide corresponding supporting materials in time.
This incident reminds consumers that while enjoying the convenience brought by live shopping, they should also maintain a cautious attitude towards product information and carefully identify the authenticity.
